DON’T BE SHADY!
Friends… we have a problem.
The rise and increased use of social media has seen the rise and increased use of shaming, shading, and right out defaming!
People have become way too comfortable using technology to throw stones, pull down others, and condemn people publicly.
This is COMPLETELY against God’s heart, and against the Kingdom culture.
We are not called to defame others, or to kill people with our words. Words have power – the Bible says that in them are the issues of life and death. Our words have the power to lift and encourage, or bring pain and despair.
In Roman’s 8:1, the Bible says that there is no condemnation to those who are in Christ – to those who do not walk after the flesh, but walk in the Spirit.
Ephesian 4:29 says that we should not let any corrupt word proceed from our mouths, only what is good, necessary for edification, and that can impart grace to the hearers.
In John 3:17-18, the Bible tells us that Jesus did not come to the world to condemn it.
He was the only one ever qualified to throw a stone.
And guess what – He didn’t!
He showed love in the face of hate. He showed grace in the midst of contempt.
Jesus did not pull people down – He did not condemn people. If He didn’t do it, then we shouldn’t do it either!
Friends, let us purpose to do better, and be better.
Do not follow the world’s trend to destroy.
Follow the Kingdom, and build others up.
- Don’t post condemning or defaming posts. When you post these types of things, you are hurting someone Jesus loves and died for.
- Don’t share, like, or forward condemning or defaming posts. When you do, you are participating in the slandering of that person.
No matter how famous, or well known they are. No matter if it is a friend or a family member, or someone you know.
Stop and assess what it is – see if it lines up with the Kingdom. If it doesn’t line up…then keep on scrolling.
- We must CHOOSE to live different.
We must choose to be the LIGHT. - We must CHOOSE to show love to those around us… Jesus gave everything for them too.
Let’s be the LIGHT!!!!
